When Should You Replace Your Boiler?
It’s important to ensure that your boiler is working as efficiently as possible and know when the right time is to replace it. Modern boilers are a lot more efficient than ones that were manufactured and installed over 10 years ago.
If your boiler is regularly breaking down or if your fuel bills are particularly high, it could be time to make the change. The potential saving that’s currently being touted by installers and energy providers is around £210 a year.
This figure is calculated by the Energy Saving Trust, and is based on a household having the oldest, least-efficient boiler possible in a three-bedroom semi-detached house.
In reality, if your boiler was installed in the late 1990s or early 2000s, you’re more likely to save closer to half of that amount.

How much does a new boiler installation cost?
New gas and oil boilers typically cost between £1000 - £3000 depending on the brand and the heat output the appliance can deliver. We will size an appropriate appliance for your home during our first site visit.
On top of these fixed costs, there will be labour and material to consider, typically costing between £500 - £1000 after which you're certificated system will be complete.

What is a combi boiler?
A combination or 'combi' boiler is both a high efficiency water heater and a central heating boiler in a single compact unit. Combi boilers heat water directly from the mains when you turn on a tap, so you won't need a hot water storage cylinder or a cold water storage tank in the roof space.
What is a system boiler?
A System boiler directly heats your central heating system and produces hot water for a storage cylinder. They work like a regular conventional boiler, in that they need to store hot water, but unlike regular boilers they take their water supply directly from the mains.
